Addressing Metering Deviation and Production‑Change Challenges for Cereal Packaging: Marchi Vertical Cup‑Dosing Packaging Machine Delivers Customized Solutions

page views: Last Updated:2026-08-12 10:57

In the field of packaging for cereals, oatmeal and various grain granules, automation, precision and high efficiency have become core directions for manufacturers’ transformation and upgrading. As a powerful original manufacturer integrating R&D and design, intelligent manufacturing and full‑line solutions, Guangzhou Marchi Packaging Equipment Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Marchi) has been deeply engaged in automated packaging for 27 years, focusing on the R&D and production of packaging equipment for powder, granule, liquid and other multi‑category materials. The company owns two manufacturing bases in Guangzhou and Hefei with a total standardized production workshop area of more than 9,500 square meters, realizing independent R&D and in‑house production of core components as well as full‑process self‑manufacturing.

To meet the metering and packaging requirements for small‑granule materials such as cereals and oatmeal, Marchi has launched the fully‑automatic packaging unit — Model MC5000D vertical packaging machine, composed of a cup‑dosing metering machine and a vertical roll‑film bag‑forming packaging machine. It integrates automatic metering, bag forming, packaging, sealing, printing and counting, and adopts an advanced touch‑screen for its operation interface.

I. Core Equipment Advantages

The Model MC5000D vertical packaging machine features the following prominent strengths for cereal granule packaging:

Precise metering and stable product quality. Adopting cup‑dosing metering, the machine is especially suitable for metering and packaging of small‑granule materials such as oatmeal, mixed cereals, fruit cereals and corn cereals. It achieves a metering accuracy of 1 % within a metering range of 100‑500 g (other weights are available upon customization), effectively ensuring consistent net content of each bag.

High‑efficiency packaging and outstanding production capacity. The packaging speed reaches 25‑80 bags per minute, with bag dimensions of (50‑280) mm × (70‑180) mm. It is compatible with multiple bag types including pillow bags, gusseted bags and holed bags. Equipped with a three‑servo system for film pulling and sealing, the equipment runs stably and reliably.

Intelligent control and easy operation. All control components are sourced from internationally renowned brands. The Chinese‑English touch‑screen control system delivers a user‑friendly interface for convenient parameter adjustment. The machine supports saving multiple sets of commonly‑used packaging programs for quick recall during production change‑overs.

Robust durability and easy cleaning. The machine body is made of stainless‑steel with an elegant and concise design. Material‑contact parts adopt food‑grade materials complying with food‑production hygiene requirements. Non‑standard customization is supported for targeted design according to customers’ material characteristics and workshop operating conditions.

II. Extensive Application Scenarios

The Model MC5000D vertical packaging machine handles a wide range of cereals and grain‑based materials, including traditional oatmeal, instant oatmeal, compound cereals, mixed fruit cereals, pure cereals, nut‑mixed cereals, banana‑flavored cereals, coconut‑milk cereals, vanilla‑flavored cereals, gluten‑free cereals, sugar‑free cereals, probiotic‑fortified cereals, corn cereals, berry cereals, raisin‑mixed cereals, yogurt‑chunk cereals, grain loops, crunchy oat snacks, chia‑seed grain oatmeal, soy‑milk oatmeal, nutritional grain cereals, vitamin‑fortified cereals and more.

Beyond cereal products, the machine is widely applicable to granular materials such as coarse grains and cereals, seasonings, dried fruits, nuts, pet food, rice, millet, mung beans, red beans, coix seeds, soybeans, buckwheat, barley, peanuts and sunflower seeds. Within the food industry, it also meets packaging demands for puffed food, snack food, frozen food, candies, rock sugar, white granulated sugar, biscuits, crispy instant noodles, dried bean products, macaroni, bread crumbs, tea leaves, infant complementary food, dried edible fungi and miscellaneous grains.

III. Full‑Process Automated Packaging Workflow

From material feeding to finished‑goods warehousing, the Model MC5000D vertical packaging machine implements a complete automated packaging process:

Materials are conveyed to the machine by a Z‑type elevator (high‑angle elevator or vacuum feeder are optional as required). After the cup‑dosing metering machine precisely measures cereal granules, the vertical roll‑film bag‑forming packaging machine simultaneously performs automatic bag forming: roll film goes through film pulling, forming, longitudinal sealing and transverse sealing to produce packaging pouches. The metered materials are automatically filled into pouches, followed by sealing, bag cutting, counting, coding and other procedures. Completed pouches are discharged via conveyor belts and sent to weight inspection to guarantee qualified net content for every bag. Qualified products proceed to metal detection to eliminate foreign‑body risks. Passing products go through downstream processes including automatic case erecting, case packing, case sealing and strapping for collective packaging. Finally, a robotic palletizing system neatly stacks finished cartons onto pallets according to preset pallet patterns, completing full‑process automated operations from granular raw materials to palletized finished goods. The entire production line realizes integrated operation covering feeding, bag forming, metering, filling, sealing, coding, output and automatic palletizing.

IV. Customer Pain Points and Corresponding Solutions

Pain Point 1: Large metering deviation after material mixing. Mixed cereals contain ingredients with great differences in particle size and density (such as large‑flake oats and fine chia seeds). Conventional packaging machines struggle to precisely control the proportion of ingredients inside each bag.

Solution: The Model MC5000D adopts customized cup‑dosing metering with cavity volumes designed according to the bulk density of each material. A multi‑head weigher may be optionally configured when necessary to guarantee consistent ingredient ratios for every bag of mixed materials.

Pain Point 2: Cumbersome production change‑overs and low efficiency. Frequent packaging‑specification switching is required for cereal products of different flavors or sizes. Long commissioning time of traditional equipment impairs production capacity.

Solution: The machine supports storing multiple sets of commonly‑used packaging programs. Parameters for different products can be preset in advance and quickly recalled for model change‑overs, greatly shortening commissioning time. Non‑standard customization is available to satisfy production requirements for various bag types and metering ranges.

Pain Point 3: High labor cost and unstable packaging quality. Manual or semi‑automatic packaging cannot guarantee product uniformity and is limited in operating efficiency.

Solution: The Model MC5000D realizes full‑process automation from automatic metering, bag forming, filling and sealing to downstream palletizing, replacing manual labour with stable and reliable mechanical operations. Full‑line automated operation not only cuts labour costs but also ensures consistent packaging quality for every finished bag.

Pain Point 4: Poor equipment adaptability and insufficient expandability. Some enterprises fail to fully consider future product‑specification changes or capacity‑expansion demands during equipment procurement.

Solution: Marchi delivers one‑stop solutions ranging from standalone machines to complete production lines, developing tailor‑made automated packaging lines according to customers’ material characteristics, workshop conditions and capacity plans. The equipment supports later‑stage expansion and upgrading, and can seamlessly connect with downstream devices including weight checkers, metal detectors, case erectors‑packers and robotic palletizers.

As a powerful original manufacturer with 27 years of packaging‑machinery industry experience, Marchi has served more than 5,000 customers nationwide and its products are exported to over 50 countries. The company provides full‑cycle services including sample testing, on‑site communication, solution design, customized manufacturing, full‑line commissioning, installation & training and after‑sales follow‑up. Manufacturers of cereals, grains and granular materials are welcome to submit samples for machine testing and jointly discuss the most suitable automated packaging solutions.
